Music and your mood: How music influences your moodswing
Listening to a
piece of good music always can help you in increasing your mood. Every single
note that you heard in your daily music will influence your brain in arranging
your mood swings. Music may cause the release of
dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter. It can alter your
mood directly after you heard a single song repeatedly. It can influence the
mood of every person, with no regard to gender nor age.
The
altered mood in our mind is driven by a tool named Iso-principle. It is a tool in
our brain that adapts the listening experience to the current mood or emotion,
and then progressively turns to music that depicts the desired mood or emotion.
It's
no wonder that sometimes we feel related to the lyrics of the music we hear,
especially if we listen to the lyrics repeatedly. For example, when we listen
to music with tones and lyrics that sound gloomy and sad, our feelings will
gradually become sad and deepen into the meaning of the song, even without
being driven by the relevant sad experience before. Conversely, when we listen
to music with cheerful and happy tones and lyrics with a lively and pleasant
beat, our initially bad mood will slowly improve following the feel of the
energetic music that we hear on repeat.
It's
good for us to add music with cheerful and passionate vibes to our favorite
daily playlist. By doing so, we can indirectly set a good mood every day.
Organizing a playlist of songs well will lead to a better feeling as well.
