The mastermind behind 'Filthy Frank' who changed paths to become a famous heartbreak singer, JOJI talks about his transformation.

George Kusuniki Miller, the famous Japanese-Australian Internet hip-hop singer and comedian shocked his fans when he decided to retire. He used to be known as the bold, filthy, and controversial Filthy Frank. When he was still active on the internet as Filthy Frank, he garnered over 800 million YouTube views for his critical songs and comedy videos. His rap parody album under the name PINK GUY even broke through to No. 1 on Billboard & Top 10 in the comedy hip-hop section. 

In 2017, the Pink Guy decided to quit his old life as an internet comedian after more than 5 years of work on his Filthy Frank YouTube channel. In his interview with VICE News, JOJI shared the story behind his decision to quit.

"I thought that was, like I was depressed that was gonna be it. I fell into that pit for about a year where I was just like pumping out shit out of fear."

In a video he uploaded a few years ago, JOJI explained how he finally decided to break his old character. He explained that he developed an illness that gave him stress-induced seizures. JOJI had disappeared from the internet for a while to start a new life. He was sick and tired of his old life, which made him depressed.

Coming back to the public with a whole different character, many fans of The Pink Guy felt lost but still supported him. This old 'Pink Guy' decided to return to music and released sad songs under his birth name, JOJI. He later joined 88rising in 2017 and released his first song under the new management, I Don't Wanna Waste My Time.

The songs in JOJI's new character are very different from his previous songs. His current songs are often slow and atmospheric. JOJI's current music is known for its dark and sad tone, with honest lyrics. Most of his music is about heartbreak, depression, mental illness, and suicide.
